CDA Conducts High-Level Review of Infrastructure Projects
On Tuesday, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) conducted a high-level meeting to examine the status of important infrastructure projects in Islamabad. The session was headed by Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who urged relevant departments to ensure that ongoing initiatives are completed on schedule while maintaining high quality standards.
Key Focus on Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass
One of the key projects addressed was the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass, which is now under development. The underpass is being extensively watched via daily drone monitoring and is anticipated to be finished within the next 35 days. In addition to its structural objectives, the project includes urban beautification features such as LED lighting installations and massive tree planting operations.
Expanding Faizabad Interchange and Managing Congestion
The extension of the Faizabad Interchange, as well as the overall traffic congestion reduction strategy, were important topics of discussion. The CDA reported ongoing work at 11 of the capital’s 20 congestion hotspots. These measures are part of a bigger traffic management strategy aimed at increasing mobility and reducing travel times for households.
Road Repairs and Safety Enhancements Underway
Along with big advancements, the CDA is actively involved in ordinary infrastructure improvements. This includes road repairs, highway upgrades, new signs, and other road safety improvements. These initiatives are being carried out concurrently to improve both the functionality and look of Islamabad’s road network.
New Projects in the Pipeline
The meeting also addressed the status of forthcoming projects. Surveys for the development of Shaheen Chowk have been completed, and cost estimates for the projected Motorway Link Road connecting to Margalla Road (N-5) are being finalized. These projects are intended to meet the city’s rising transportation needs and give more connections to major routes.
Sustainability and Monsoon Preparedness
Chairman Randhawa underlined the importance of environmentally responsible development. He directed the relevant departments to approve tenders for drainage clearance operations before the monsoon season. Furthermore, he emphasized the necessity of eco-friendly waste management procedures, especially during Eid-ul-Adha, to reduce environmental effect.
Commitment to Transparency and Citizen Welfare
Chairman Randhawa reaffirmed the CDA’s commitment to transparent government and citizen-centric development, emphasizing the agency’s dual focus on urban growth and environmental sustainability. He claimed that the goal is to make Islamabad a model capital that combines contemporary infrastructure with green, livable spaces.
