Remittances sent back home by the Pakistani diaspora in Qatar in 2023 totaled approximately $1 billion, revealed Jawad Sohrab Malik. He is the Special Assistant to the Caretaker Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development, said in a press conference in Doha.
He pointed out the significant presence of the Pakistani community in Qatar, numbering around 300,000, primarily employed in the construction and hospitality sectors. He said that currently, around 300,000 Pakistanis are living in Qatar which is 10 percent of Qatar’s total population. “Already it’s quite a high figure and InshAllah if we can work on developing skills, raising demand, and opening up avenues of job generation with private employers, the numbers will further increase,” remarked Malik.
